* CBGa and CBDa have become the subject of a recent study on how cannabinoids interact with Covid-19. The researchers found that two cannabinoid acids commonly found in hemp, cannabigerolic acid, or CBGA, and cannabidiolic acid, also known as CBDA, can bind to the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. By binding to the spike protein, the compounds have potential to prevent the virus from entering cells and causing infection, potentially offering new avenues to prevent and treat the disease.
* This research was done in a test tube only! There have not been any documented studies in humans yet to show that CBDa and CBGa actually block the virus from entering cells in a human body. This research in a test tube is a great first step to exploring the efficacy of these cannabinoids against the virus in the future.
